Welcome to Geetai Ortho Hospital

On the banks of the Jagbudi River, surrounded by the Sahyadri mountains, lies our beautiful town of Khed with a population of nearly 2.3 lakh people. While only a small portion lives in the town, a large number of people reside in villages spread across remote and hilly regions, some located almost 50 km away. For such a region, strong healthcare infrastructure in the town becomes extremely important. Unfortunately, despite its strategic location, Khed has long lacked adequate healthcare facilities. Apart from a few surgical and maternity nursing homes, proper specialty medical services have been limited. This reality troubled me from a young age. I vividly remember when I was in 7th standard in my village Sapirli, my mother fell seriously ill. With only two ST buses available daily and heavy monsoon rains flooding the muddy roads, villagers carried her in a bamboo basket tied to wooden poles on their shoulders, much like the story of Vasudev carrying Lord Krishna across the Yamuna. Though my mother recovered, the memory of that difficult night stayed with me and planted the seed of a dream.

Today, nearly twenty years later, many things have improved in our villages. Roads are better, transportation has improved, and mobile connectivity has reached remote areas. However, healthcare infrastructure has not progressed at the same pace. While studying medicine, I closely observed the medical challenges of this region. The hilly terrain, remote villages and difficult roads result in a high number of trauma and accident cases, many of which could be managed locally if treated in time. Additionally, a significant portion of the rural population belongs to the geriatric age group of 60 to 85 years, often facing issues such as fragile bones, osteoporosis, fractures and multiple health conditions. Meanwhile, the town’s younger working population commonly suffers from orthopaedic problems related to obesity, osteomalacia, road traffic accidents and sports injuries. Despite these growing needs, the region lacked a comprehensive orthopaedic setup capable of managing these conditions effectively.

With a deep desire to serve my own community, I returned to Khed after completing 13 years of medical education and have been working here as an orthopaedic surgeon since 2019. Over the past few years, I have carefully built a dedicated surgical team and together we have successfully performed nearly 500 orthopaedic procedures. As a team, we have introduced several advanced orthopaedic treatments in Khed, including total knee replacements, total hip replacements, shoulder and knee arthroscopy, ACL reconstruction for kabaddi players, army personnel and police aspirants, as well as complex trauma and paediatric cases. Treating geriatric fractures has become one of our specialties, helping many elderly patients regain independence and live with dignity. Yet we felt the need to provide more comprehensive care. With the establishment of GEETAI – The Bone & Joint Clinic, spread across 3800 sq. ft., we aim to offer complete orthopaedic care under one roof, including modern OPD facilities, advanced diagnostics, surgery and rehabilitation, setting new standards of treatment for our region.
